Bike routes along Palma's seafront
We encourage you to cycle along Palma de Mallorca’s seafront and discover some interesting enclaves near the island's capital. Although the places below can be easily reached by car or by foot, cycling along the coast of Mallorca and enjoying a pleasant bike ride is a highly recommended activity.
Not only does it allow you to get to your destination faster, but you also avoid having to use the car or public transport. A bike tour to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mallorca’s beaches and feel the sea breeze on your face. Bellver Castle in Palma
Bellver Castle, in Gothic style and only 4 km from Palma, was erected by King Jaime II in the 14th century. It stands 112 m above sea level and offers a beautiful city view. It was used as a summer residence by the royal family and it also served as a prison until 1915.
A very interesting trip to contemplate the magnificent city views from its tower and to visit its defensive architecture. In addition, its interior houses a museum where many Roman, Arab and Spanish artifacts are exhibited. It is also worth mentioning that in summer it is a place where several open-air concerts are held.
During the bike tour, you will be able to see the Lonja de Palma, the Auditorium and the Park in the area of Bellver Castle.

Portixol and El Molinar
Less than half an hour's cycle ride from the centre of Palma there is an old fishing district, Portixol. The area of Portixol and Molinar is known for its bay, a long, narrow beach with shallow coves and pretty fishing huts that give the area a very picturesque feel. Despite the beach you can enjoy Portixol frontsea with its fantastic choice of restaurants and bars where you can stop for a refreshing drink or snack before heading back.
During the route, you can also visit some enclaves such as the Torre d'en Pau, an old defensive fort that was the defensive artillery centre of the coast of Palma, or the Bosc de sa Ribera.
Distance: 2.5 km
El Arenal
If you feel like continuing the cycling route after reaching the area of Portixol and El Molinar, we encourage you to continue cycling along the frontsea until you reach El Arenal.
A longer trip but one that you will definitely enjoy for the scenery full of golden sandy beaches, the beautiful coves and the turquoise colour of the Mediterranean. The beach of El Arenal boasts a very long beach and is characterised by its palm trees that give it a tropical atmosphere.
