The Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca, built on the shores of the bay of Palma, is the main symbol of the city. It is a Gothic style building that has the largest Gothic rose window of all Spanish and European cathedrals. Very close to the cathedral and the historic centre, is the Paseo Marítimo of the city. At 112 metres above sea level, the Bellver Castle is another of the city's most representative monuments. It is a building with a Majorcan Gothic style, a circular floor plan and it is the oldest castle of its kind in Europe. From its terrace you can see the best panoramic views of the city and its bay.
